Why the partiality of your perspectives and real intention as reflected in the heading of your release titled ‘PROPOSED “OCCUPY LEKKI TOLL GATE PROTEST ‘ ?
…In your press release hereunder published, you harped on the need to comply with COVID-19 protocols and the criminal culpability of non compliance . However where were you in January 2021 when the protocols were brazenly and repeatedly breached all over Lagos State by hundreds of thousands of Nigerians in Lagos state in the tortuous efforts of undertaking NIN registration? Why did you not remember to call the attention of Lagosians to the legal consequences of the gross breach of the said protocols ? Why did you not activate the Police in Lagos State then to enforce the Law? Why is it only now that the protest is contemplated against Lagos State that you are now showing concern about the hazards of non compliance ?
Also, do you realize that at a press function and public briefing that you chaired, there were discordant tunes coming from you and the Commissioner of Police on the issue of the looming protests? I notice that while your documented position implicitly, correctly and reasonably allows for the protests conditionally, the position of the Commissioner via his speech at the function bans the protest UNCONDITIONALLY . What should the prospective protesters make of this dissonance ?
Finally, I noticed you stated that your attention has been drawn to a protest planned FOR AND AGAINST the reopening of the Admiralty Toll Gate for 13 February 2021 . Sir, the true position is there is no protest planned FOR AND AGAINST the reopening of the Admiralty Toll Gate . There is only a protest planned AGAINST the reopening of the Toll gate . The other planned protest is a PROTEST TO DEFEND LAGOS and not a protest FOR the reopening of the Admiralty Toll Gate .
Respectfully, facts are facts, beyond speculations and translations. And if one may wonder, why the partiality of your perspectives and real intention as reflected in the heading of your release titled ‘PROPOSED “OCCUPY LEKKI TOLL GATE PROTEST ‘ ?
I am surprised that neither you nor the Police Commissioner see the need to counsel the DEFEND LAGOS protesters to shift their own protest to another day or to another venue , like the frontage of the palace of the Oba of Lagos , if it must hold on the 13th February 2021 .
Finally and on a lighter note , I observe that your public briefing only had the grace of the presence of the police . Sir, what of the Army? Lagos State is not inviting them this time around ?
