The truth outlives every human construct that might deign to suppress it, and every lie that is told in pursuit of its suppression, would eventually die, whilst the truth shall stand.
When impunity has been normalized in a society, the people become acculturated to evil, and all demand for equity, are deemed to be evidences of the deviant’s insanity. Injustice then becomes the order of the day, and insistence on accountability on the part of those entrusted with power, is interpreted as an affront to law and order.
If the bodies charged with the exercise of the coercive powers of the Nigerian state, are as brazen in their coordination with the criminal elements in the society, in an attempt to tamp down the legitimate, and peaceful protest of the citizens, from exactly where, does such agencies, and the state itself, derive either the credibility, or the legitimacy, to accuse anyone else, of either violence, or criminality?
Who is the employee of the SUV riding, thug conveying and coordinating, begoggled goons on the streets of Abuja, at the peak of the protests? Were those operatives of our national security agencies? What law, permitted the roles that they played in the full glare of the cameras? Exactly what interests were they advancing in a democracy?
The videos that emerged from the Olosan episode in Mushin, away from the arguments of Lekki, where the wanton and summary execution of men, would appear to have become as normal in our clime, and the police would appear to have been appointed judge, jury, and executioner. Are we still sane?
The brutal execution of another Nigerian, caught on video, with the 3rd Mainland signage offering clues as to the location being somewhere in Ebute-Metta, where it took a vicious kick to the dying man, and a couple more rounds to take his life. Were those men of the Nigerian police force? Was that a citizen that they killed? What and who, is a citizen? What is a policeman?
“Move beyond the Airforce patrol van, I have told you to stop shooting these people, but your men have kept firing on them”. An officer of the Airforce, cautioning a trigger happy policeman, who had been reluctant to stand down as the officer had demanded. Bravo to an officer and a gentleman.
Dateline, Lekki tollgate. 20/10/20. Soldiers of the Nigerian Army, clothed with the taxes paid by the Nigerian peoples, holding guns bought from their sweats, loaded with bullets, purchased by their labors, shot at Nigerian citizens, who had only the flags of the Nigerian state, that would deny them citizenship, as bulletproof vests.
Nigeria did not protect.
There is an indestructibility that characterizes truth, and until you are able to appreciate the godly quality of truth, you cannot begin to comprehend this point. I shall attempt to explain it, and it is where I shall seek to close this exhortation.
Every truth is rooted in God, and as long as the teller of the truth has been faithful in telling the truth, he would have done all that he might be required to do. The truth is self perpetuating, it requires no help for its survival and or establishment. The truth outlives every human construct that might deign to suppress it, and every lie that is told in pursuit of its suppression, would eventually die, whilst the truth shall stand.
I have looked at Jide Sanwo-Olu struggling with the inner man. I have heard him sounding hopelessly lost and confused. I see a good man being asked to own the evil he had embraced. Esu kii fun’ni la’ko ewure, ko ma pa’da wa be’re omo eran. It is time for him to pay the price of loyalty, and it is for him to decide how he wishes to be remembered.
May we not be tested beyond our endurance, and may we never develop the capacity to forget the day of our eternal sleep. Amen.

Even when tested to the point of death, it is better to suffer and die as a honest sinner than to live as a hypocrite.
