Vicariously Idiotic

Sometime in 2021 or thereabout, but most definitely before Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerged as the APC candidate in the stolen presidential election of 2023, I declared in the public domain, that I would be proceeding on exile, if he were to win the presidency. I did not count on the shamelessness of Mahmoud Yakubu, or that of the judiciary.

Amu’ni bu’ni, eran Ibiye. The pains that comes from the realization that criminals have come to capture critical institutions of the state, including the judiciary, are in truth, constant, and unrelenting. But I have dealt with these pains by defiantly pointing out the compromises to the system, and thereby refusing to deodorize the stolen mandate of a desperate man, and the perpetuation of an evil system of internal colonization.

The problem is, by Yakubu’s compromise was an opportunity lost, to determine the actual number of idiots with whom we live in the country. Also, with the acquiescence of the judiciary in the clear compromise of the electoral system and the constitution, full blown dictatorship and criminal capture of the state, was legalized, even though it could not be legitimized in the minds of the victims of the brazen electoral fraud.

As we watched the Los Angeles riots on the news, I forgot my place as a Nigerian and presumed to rib my American brother, son of my mother, born and residing in the USA, and wondered aloud with derision and mirth; how many idiots it required to elect Donald Trump? Adewale looked at me deadpan and answered without missing a beat: “at least we know how many idiots voted here, but it is safe to assume that y’all idiots in Nigeria”.

It entered me for body.

Yakubu! O ni ku’re!
