Dele Farotimi is a lawyer, a seasoned political activist, member of Citizens’ Rally against Oppression (RAMINBA), and author. He was called to the Nigerian bar in the year 1999 and remained in active law practice until his retirement in 2018 at the age of 50.
He attended the Lagos State University (LASU) and was President of the Student Union in 1994/1995. This leadership opportunity ingrained in him the desire for social change.
The Vision For A New Nigeria
Over the years, Dele has used his voice and pen both in and out of the court room to campaign for a New Nigeria: a Nigeria, whose people are liberated from the shackles of mental slavery; a Nigeria whose politicians are driven by love for her and not personal interests nor selfish gain. Where its leaders serve on the principles of accountability and transparency; a Nigeria that will no longer remain at the back ends of the committee of nations; a Nigeria that will rise to take her place in the frontlines.
A Voice For Liberation
Driven by this compelling vision for change, Dele, as his usual practice, lent his voice to campaign for the liberation of the people from the oppressive Nigerian state in his book “Do Not Die in their War” which was released in the year 2019. A book that has remained a topic of discussion in many circles.
He opines the need for a total overhaul of the Nigerian system, for the change we seek and desire to happen.
